Two key federal agencies announced an agreement today they said would speed development of offshore energy projects, including wave, tidal, wind and solar power along the nation's coasts.

The secretaries of the Department of the Interior and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission pledged to eliminate "bureaucratic turf battles" and "sweep aside red tape." Such projects, particularly wave energy, have raised concerns about clogging up the ocean among Oregon fishermen and other coastal groups.
