Portland Community College is offering sustainability training for technical educators, July 13-17. High school, community college and university instructors are invited to apply for this free professional development opportunity to improve their knowledge of sustainable design and construction issues, trends, technologies and industry best practices. Residential green building and energy efficiency experts from Earth Advantage and Energy Trust of Oregon will help lead the institute. This week-long training will combine workshops, discussions and site visits to notable green projects throughout Portland, leaving attendees better informed, prepared and inspired to integrate sustainable design and building into their curriculum.
The institute will offer beginner/intermediate level training to 30 instructors, with a focus on residential design, construction technology and facilities maintenance technology, but it is open to all related disciplines. No prerequisites are required, and CEUs will be available for high school instructors.
Instructors are required to complete an application stating how they plan to integrate the sustainability curriculum into their courses. The application is available online at www.pcc.edu/stte. For more information, contact Kathleen Harriman at (503) 977-4159 or kharrima@pcc.edu.
