Incentives for homeowners investing in solar electric (photovoltaic) systems

Oregonians typically receive incentives from the following funding sources to help pay for their solar installations. In general, these incentives are additive, and can be combined.

     30% of system cost
System cost is reduced by utility rebates
IRS form 5695 - Residential Energy Credits
Homeowner claims credit on tax return, does not need to "apply" for credit

     $3.00/watt, up to $6,000
Up to $1,500 claimed per year
System must be installed by Tax Credit Certified Technician
Homeowner applies for credit after installation is complete

  • Incentives for utility customers

In most cases, systems must be installed by a contractor, and must be pre-approved for incentives before installation begins.  Your contractor should be familiar with these programs and should help you with the application process.

Contact your utility to request a net metering interconnection agreement when you are ready to install.

If your utility is not listed below, check ODOE's list of energy suppliers or the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency.

Name of Utility Location/Territory Description of Incentive
Ashland Electric Utility City of Ashland $2.25/W up to $10,000
Consumers Power Parts of Benton, Lincoln, Lane, Linn, Polk, and Marion counties $500/kW
