Incentives for homeowners investing in solar electric (photovoltaic) systems
Oregonians typically receive incentives from the following funding sources to help pay for their solar installations. In general, these incentives are additive, and can be combined.

Federal - Residential income tax credit
30% of system cost
System cost is reduced by utility rebates
IRS form 5695 - Residential Energy Credits
Homeowner claims credit on tax return, does not need to "apply" for credit
$3.00/watt, up to $6,000
Up to $1,500 claimed per year
System must be installed by Tax Credit Certified Technician
Homeowner applies for credit after installation is complete

Incentives for utility customers
In most cases, systems must be installed by a contractor, and must be pre-approved for incentives before installation begins. Your contractor should be familiar with these programs and should help you with the application process.
Contact your utility to request a net metering interconnection agreement when you are ready to install.
